Let’s go over a few frequently asked questions about collector car storage. Hopefully by doing so we will answer some questions you’ve been thinking about lately. If not, give us a call at (817) 999-0980 and we’ll do our best to answer whatever is on your mind. We are Fort Worth Car Storage, so we know a thing or two about vehicle storage.
How do I prepare a vehicle for storage?
The main concerns when placing a car in long term vehicle storage are mechanical. Vehicles sitting for a long period of time are prone to problems. Make sure your tires are fully inflated. Make sure your fluid levels are all topped off. And you are required to have a drip plan for underneath your car in case it should leak during storage. You can find other suggestions/requirements on the Fort Worth Car Storage website under FAQ.
What does vehicle storage cost?
It depends on a number of factors. At our facility, which is one of the most respected collector car storage facilities in all of Texas, our base package costs $250 per month. That includes climate controlled car storage. Premium services added on to that cost extra, of course.
How long is the average lease period?
An average figure would be six months or one year. The reason for that is because most services are priced for those time periods. Of course, if you should need storage for eight months instead of six, that can be arranged and the price will be computed accordingly.
Are routine checks performed in collector car storage?
They are if you pay for them in advance. Things like checking the batter, checking the tire pressure, and starting the engine, those fall under premium services for most collector car storage facilities and will usually cost somewhere in the $50 range, give or take a few dollars.
What kind of access is available for antique car storage?
Access is always available during regular business hours. Most vehicle storage facilities will charge extra if you want access during hours the facility is closed, so if at all possible plan on checking your vehicle during the 9-5 window at most storage centers.
Are there multi-car discounts?
Usually, yes! Fort Worth Car Storage offers a ten percent discount for three or more vehicles. Make sur to ask about discounts such as these when you speak to the customer representative.
What are the advantages of climate controlled storage?
If you live in an area where there are extreme climate conditions i.e. over 100 degrees in the summer, you need climate controlled storage to prevent oxidation from happening. Oxidation is a chemical process which will ruin most of the surfaces of your vehicle, as well as cause damage to instruments and computer components. At Fort Worth Car Storage, all storage is climate controlled storage. In our opinion, if it is worth doing, it is worth doing correctly.
