A Passionate Car Collector: Ron Sturgeon
The visionary behind Fort Worth Car Storage is Ron Sturgeon, a dedicated car collector with over 30 years of experience. For more than 15 years, he has operated auto-related businesses from this very location.
Ron Sturgeon is a Fort Worth-based entrepreneur whose journey began in his teenage years when he taught himself to repair Volkswagens. Right out of high school, he launched AAA Small Car World, a thriving business specializing in foreign car repairs and sales. As he operated his shop, he accumulated numerous parts cars and quickly realized the profitability of selling used auto parts. Recognizing a lucrative opportunity, he gradually expanded into the auto salvage and used parts industry.
From humble beginnings as a one-employee startup, Ron grew his salvage and parts business into one of the largest auto salvage operations in the United States. In 1999, he sold the business to Ford Motor Company. A few years later, in 2003, he and two partners repurchased Ford’s auto salvage division at a time when it was losing a million dollars per month. Through strategic refocusing and sound management, they successfully revitalized the business and eventually sold it to a major publicly traded company.
Throughout his career in auto recycling, Ron developed a passion for collecting classic and exotic cars, as well as automotive memorabilia. The very facility he created to store and care for his personal collection is now home to Fort Worth Car Storage. Over time, the business outgrew its original space, prompting Ron to open a new, state-of-the-art, 150,000-square-foot facility featuring museum-quality climate control.
The new facility will house an extensive museum collection, showcasing over 200 rare and collectible cars, along with more than 3,000 unique and highly sought-after automotive toys. Fort Worth Car Storage now offers more space and amenities than any other facility in Texas for storing classic, rare, and exotic vehicles.
